~ Nurse Casey ~

Hello, my name is Casey Lucherk (pronounced Lou-check), BSN, RN. I am a proud North Zulch Bulldog graduate of 2003. My Associate Degree in Nursing was completed at Blinn College (2008) and Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at University of Texas, Arlington (2010). I worked for over 10 years at the College Station Medical Center in departments including: preop/recovery room/day surgery, infusions/chemotherapy, medical/surgical unit. I previously worked as RN Supervisor at Madisonville Care Center on the weekends (2017-2023). I joined the Bulldog Team in 2019 and as Campus Nurse, am dedicated to the health and safety of our students and staff at NZISD.

The National Association of School Nurses Defines School Nursing as:

A specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success, and lifelong achievement of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

Healthy Children Create Successful Learners:

A school nurse has many different roles within the school setting. A school nurse supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students and their achievement in the learning process.

School Nurse Roles:

The key role of a school nurse is to support student learning, by implementing approaches that encourage student and staff health and safety.
